SAND DOLLARS IN CHEJU ISLAND, KOREA

   구멍연잎성게, Astriclypeus manni 는 제주 연안의 해저 모래바닥에 서식하는 성게의 일종이다.  구멍연잎성게는 분류학적으로 극피동물문, 성게강, 부정형성게 아강에 속하며, 그 모양이 마치 동전과 같다 하여 영어로 sand dollar로 불리운다.  구멍연잎성게는 제주도 성산, 함덕, 한림, 강정 등지에 서식하며 일반적으로 모래에 묻혀 서식하기 때문에 그 존재가 잘 알려져있지 않다.

• Very common in subtidal sandy bottom, from 1 to 50 m
• Size of the test diameter about 10 to 20 cm in adult
• This photographs were taken from a population found in shallow subtidal eel grass bed at depth of 1 to 3 m, northern Cheju by Nikon F-90 camera with 60 mm lens
